The Breakers Earns Second Consecutive Year on Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For® List by Fortune Media® and Great Place To Work®, Ranking No. 59 in the Country

PALM BEACH, FL - The Breakers Palm Beach has been named a 2024 Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For® by Great Place To Work® and Fortune Magazine® at No. 59, marking the luxury resort’s second consecutive year to make this prestigious list.

Founded in 1896 and still under its original family ownership, The Breakers remains the only independent hotel to have achieved this distinction - a testament to the company’s employee-centric culture, values and entrepreneurial approach to business.

This esteemed annual ranking focuses on how associates feel about their workplace, by evaluating confidential team member feedback, and matching it against HR data from participating companies. Organizations with consistently high survey responses across 60 statements that comprise the Trust Index™ Survey are honored with placement on the list.

Great Place To Work, the global authority on workplace culture, selects honorees using precise analytics and confidential feedback from more than 1.3 million U.S. employees. Companies are only considered if they are Great Place To Work Certified™, with 1,000 or more staff in the U.S. In addition, organizations must complete an extensive, highly competitive application process that includes rigorous benchmarks and in-depth essays about their meaningful support programs and resources (validated by team member commentary).

Earning a spot on the list is an important indicator of overall company performance. Companies on the 100 Best list consistently outperform the market, and exceed their competitors on key business measures like retention and innovation. Honorees deliver a comprehensive workplace experience that fosters positive outcomes for employees, regardless of demographic identifier(s).

For The Breakers, 94% of respondents agree that the resort is a great place to work (92% of all full and part-time team members completed the Great Place To Work® Employee Opinion Survey). Participants provided the following additional feedback:

  • 98% I believe that customers rate the service we deliver as excellent
  • 97% This is a physically safe place to work
  • 97% When you join the company you are made to feel welcome
  • 96% I am proud to tell others that I work at The Breakers
  • 95% I feel good about the ways the company contributes to the community

“Our most valuable asset and the organization’s driving force is our dedicated 2,300-plus team,” said Denise Bober, Chief Human Resources Officer at The Breakers. “Their professional and personal satisfaction is the company’s number one priority; therefore, we are honored to cultivate a Culture of Care & Well-being that embodies the essence of hospitality for every single individual on our staff, ensuring The Breakers thrives as an exceptional workplace.”

“This philosophy is a testament to our visionary family ownership, four generations spanning 128 years, who have steered this magnificent 140-acre property independent of chain affiliation, while cherishing the team as the heart & soul of The Breakers,” Bober continued. “As heirs to founder Henry M. Flagler, they uphold his legacy to serve as a conscientious corporate citizen that prioritizes our associates’ well-being, while seizing every challenge as an opportunity to elevate our standards and create positive change. We are grateful and deeply humbled by this extraordinary recognition.”

“When people ask about what sets the Best Companies apart from their competitors, it’s one key ingredient: trust,” says Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place To Work. “When employees trust their leaders, their colleagues, and the organization, they become empowered to reach their full potential.”

“Fortune is happy to have collaborated with Great Place To Work for the 27th year to recognize the 100 Best Companies to Work For,” says Alyson Shontell, editor-in-chief at Fortune. “In a difficult macro environment with unprecedented challenges, these companies seemed to navigate their organizations toward steady and positive working environments for employees. Congratulations to all who were recognized.”

About The Breakers Palm Beach

One of America’s most iconic resorts, The Breakers is an Italian Renaissance-style hotel, set within 140 acres of oceanfront property on the island of Palm Beach, Florida. Founded in 1896 by magnate Henry M. Flagler, this legendary destination continues to thrive independent of chain affiliation under its original family ownership. Their unrivaled investment, averaging $30 million each year in capital improvements and ongoing revitalization, balances preservation and modernization to sustain multi-generational appeal.

Inspired by the Villa Medici in Rome, the magnificent, eight-story architectural centerpiece features 534 guest rooms and suites, including the ultra-luxury Flagler Club - a boutique, private-access hotel nestled atop the resort. A bounty of world-class amenities complements The Breakers’ gracious service and unparalleled seaside glamour. Ten distinctive restaurants, ranging from casual beachfront to stylishly sophisticated, showcase talented, award-winning chefs and Master Sommeliers. An exclusive beach club evokes the Mediterranean, with four pools, six whirlpool spas, 25 poolside bungalows and a variety of watersports. Additional offerings include: two 18-hole golf courses, 10 Har-Tru tennis courts, a tranquil, indoor-outdoor spa, a 6,000 sq. ft. fitness center, 13 signature boutiques, a Family Entertainment Center with extensive activities for children, and Via Flagler by The Breakers - an off-site, al fresco plaza of boutiques, eateries and galleries.
